We are in the process of ensuring that everyone who wants help with transportation from the airport in Richmond to the International Learning Center (ILC) is accommodated.  Please respond to this email ASAP, but no later than Friday September 21 to let us know if you would like to participate in the complementary group shuttle which will leave the airport approximately every hour.  Please provide your flight information so we will know if there are high traffic times that may require more seats.

There will be an OBT Conference airport Ambassador in the baggage claim area of the airport to assist you with finding the shuttle.

The ILC is in a rural area about 30 miles (45-50 minutes) from Richmond International Airport. If you would like to arrange and pay for your own transportation, here is some information:

    • Shared ride services like Uber and Lyft are also available: Estimate $40-45 for one person one way.
    • You can also contract with these local transportation companies:

    ·

    • James River Transportation has served many groups coming to ILC.
    • Super Shuttle quotes a price of $200 for 5 passengers riding together from Richmond airport to ILC and back to the airport.

The location information for the ILC is:  International Learning Center, 16492 MLC Lane, Rockville, VA 23146. 1-804-749-3030

This is a secure campus. On arrival at the gate, let the guard know you are attending the OBT Conference and need to check in.

Note: The ILC is 106 miles from Reagan Washington National Airport, and about 125 miles from Washington Dulles International Airport. Traffic in the DC area is unpredictable; allow at least 3 hours to get from either DC airport to ILC.

Please let us know if you have any questions – be assured, more information will be following shortly about the specifics of the campus (as in, where do you go once you get to the ILC).

Though details are still being worked out, the conference plans to have a shuttle to help get people from the airport to the International Learning Center at the beginning of the conference and back to the airport at its conclusion. Details will be shared via email to all conference participants.

The conference approved scholarship applications for almost fifty international colleagues. Many of these await processing of visas to travel to the US. Let's join our trust with theirs for visa approvals to come through.

The OBT Conference organizers recognize that many of our international colleagues might not be able to attend this conference, especially since there’s not been sufficient advance notice for their organizations to forecast the expense in their budget planning.

We also recognize that their participation is essential, especially those who have pioneered OBT projects. Their experience and resulting insight helps tether theory to real world practice.

With that in mind American Bible Society, Faith Comes by Hearing, Seed Co, Wycliffe USA,  and Every Tribe Every Nation have all made generous commitments to a scholarship fund which can potentially cover registration and international airfare.

Applications will be processed based on need until July 15 with early applicants receiving priority. For the sake of equity and diversity scholarships will also be distributed across applicants from multiple organizations and regions.
